The Sumner County Economic Development Commission (SCEDC) received notification recently that they had been awarded grant funding to provide training opportunities for Sumner County businesses and entrepreneurs. The grant award came from the South Central Kansas Economic Development District (SCKEDD) through their Rural Business Development Tax Credit Program.
“This funding will allow us to provide training opportunities to our Sumner County businesses free of charge and provide the training in Sumner County as opposed to having to travel outside the county,” stated Janis Hellard, SCEDC Director. “During these economic times it is difficult for our businesses to pay the tuition for the class, pay the employee for their time in attending the class and pay to travel to the class. We hope our businesses will take advantage of this opportunity. “
The first training to be offered will be Quick Books classes. The dates and times of these classes have not been set as the SCEDC is still in the process of contracting with the instructors. Further information on training classes will be posted on the SCEDC website (www.gosumner.com), and through the Sumner County chambers and the Sumner County newspapers.
If you have any questions regarding this training or other ways the Sumner County Economic Development Commission might assist your business, please feel free to contact them at 620-326-8779 or scedc@co.sumner.ks.us.
