
Pop. 1,068Historic Oxford MillOxford, located in eastern Sumner County on Highway 160, just 7 miles east of Interstate 35 on the Arkansas River, and just 30 minutes from Wichita. Oxford is home to the Historic Oxford Mill, built in 1874.
In the 1930's, Oxford grew due to the boom in the oil business and is still home to several oil related businesses. Today Oxford is home to such businesses as Oxford Alfalfa & Dehydrating, Oxford Saw & Mower, an upholstery shop, gift shops, and diners which are a must if stopping through. New housing is under development on the west side of Oxford and sites for commercial and industrial businesses are available.
Oxford is visited the first Saturday after Labor Day for the Watermelon Feed which is abound with activities for children and families, and the last weekend of November when they host Christmas in the Country, a wonderful event held at many homes and businesses throughout town for sampling homemade and handcrafted gifts and crafts galore.
