Two Conway Springs businesses honored with state award

Two Conway Springs businesses were recently honored with the Merit Award by the Kansas Department of Commerce for their contributions to the local economy.  Hired Man's Grocery and K Doll Koatings were two of the 104 businesses honored with the award.  The Kansas Department of Commerce named the winners as part of Business Appreciation Month.  Each of the businesses was nominated in one of the four categories: Manufacturing/Distribution, Service, Retail, and Hospital/Non-profit.

Hired Man's Grocery is owned by Clint and Jenny Osner.  They Osner's began building the grocery store from ground up in 2007 and were open for business a year later.

K-Doll Koatings Creates Protective Buildings

K-Doll Koatings was started in 2001 by Kevin and Gina Doll.  Kevin decided to leave an established sandblasting and painting company to venture off on his own.  Although K-Doll Koatings still does sandblasting and painting they now build customized modular office buildings.  These buildings are like the ones used on construction sites.  They are built to specifications that were created to protect people from the possibility of explosions at refinery sites and they also have a ballistics rating that protects military personnel.  Since originally starting with customized former shipping containers, K-Doll Koatings now builds these portable offices from the ground up to meet stringent safe

Conway Springs Gets New Fire Station

Conway Springs Fire StationConway Springs Fire StationConway Springs held a grand opening on June 5 for their new fire station.  Funding for the new acility was provided by fund raising activities and labor donations by local citizens.
