In the 1930's, Oxford grew due to the boom in the oil business and is still home to several oil related businesses. New housing is under development on the west side of Oxford and sites for commercial and industrial businesses are available.

In 2007, Dave Parks, Artist/Writer, returned to his hometown of Oxford, Kansas, to shoot a music video for his Livin' An American Dream  song. The song represents the value of small town life in rural America and is a testament to the quality of life of this community.

Oxford is visited the first Saturday after Labor Day for the Watermelon Feed which is abound with activities for children and families, and the last weekend of November when they host Christmas in the Country, a wonderful event held at many homes and businesses throughout town for sampling homemade and handcrafted gifts and crafts galore.
