Oxford, located in eastern Sumner County on Highway 160, just 7 miles east of Interstate 35 on the Arkansas River, and just 30 minutes from Wichita. Oxford is home to the Historic Oxford Mill, built in 1874.

In the 1930's, Oxford grew due to the boom in the oil business and is still home to several oil related businesses. New housing is under development on the west side of Oxford and sites for commercial and industrial businesses are available.

In 2007, Dave Parks, Artist/Writer, returned to his hometown of Oxford, Kansas, to shoot a music video for his Livin' An American Dream song. The song represents the value of small town life in rural America and is a testament to the quality of life of this community.

Oxford is visited the first Saturday after Labor Day for the Watermelon Feed which is abound with activities for children and families, and the last weekend of November when they host Christmas in the Country, a wonderful event held at many homes and businesses throughout town for sampling homemade and handcrafted gifts and crafts galore.

Napawalla Park offers camping facilities, covered areas with tables for family and other gatherings, and a wonderful array of toys to play on for kids of all ages. The Napawalla Acoustical Alliance holds a music festival Memorial Day weekend starting on the Thursday before and ending on Sunday.
